What a day!
Didn’t sleep all night because of jet lag…plus it took a long time to settle
in- the lady in front of me on the plane pushed her seat back too hard and
spilled my coffee all over me- so I had to ride all the way to Accra with wet
pants and underwear…not fun.
When we finally landed, it was great. We met up with Jonathan and made our way to the hotel where we stayed overnight. The room was nice, and I only got electrocuted once by my laptop.
When we got to Tamale this morning we had a
nice breakfast and went to check out our new house, which we love!
Then we went to a grocery store to get some stuff for the house. I was there about 10 minutes before I got asked to leave for breaking the dishwasher soap and spilling it all over the floor. “You are finished here. You must go.”
Some of our provisions...
Much of Ghana reminds me of India. Kind of looks like Madras with the heat, the trees and the little roadside stalls. But far fewer people. One thing I noticed is different is that the women carry their babies in little pouches on their backs. Doesn't matter if they are newborn or 3 years old, they get put into a long cotton cloth and tied around the mother's waist, reverse-kangaroo style..
You gotta look closely, but there's a little baby hanging on to the back of his momma..he looked hot lol
A family selling pineapples...
Tomorrow is our first day at Tamale Teaching Hospital...excited to see what the day will bring!

ReplyDeleteThis is awesome Nitya! So glad you are doing this! I can't believe you had coffee spilled on you and you got asked to leave a store...ha ha! Sounds like this will be quite the trip. It was wonderful sloping with you and Jonathan tonight. Benjamin loved showing off for you. So the word sloping is supposed to be skypeing, but it autocorrected and my iPad won't let me fix it.
